College Projects

Below are projects that I worked on in college.

Some involved a team, others were individual.

All made use of communal workspace and the benifits that offers

Fixperts

“A Fixperts project develops design, engineering and practical making skills, and relies on empathy, collaboration, and storytelling to  deliver a successful result.” – Fixperts.org

The premise behind the project is to interact   with a member of your community and ‘fix’ or develop a solution to a problem that they are facing, and my teamate and I did just that though we faced many challenges such as remote working.

Design For Manufacture

A project primarily focused on developing

surface modeling techniques in Solidworks.

The process;

  • foam form model,

  • Sketches to detail buttons etc,

  • followed by 3D modeling

  • Finally rendering in Keyshot.

LIT!

Using existing designers as our inspiration, we were asked to design and build a fully funtioning light fixture of a cetain type.

I was assigned Jonathan Ive and a Task Light fixture.

Stirling Engine

An aesthetic model created to get familiar with part modeling and multi-part assemblies. With an animation to show off the functinality as well as to develop a new skill.

SKYPOD

My Final Design Project, SKYPOD, combined my physical and digital skillsets with my love for sports and sharing that with others.

SKYPOD allows users to capture their surroundings at new heights. Born out of a budget crunch and a want to have a different perspective at local sports games, The system is open source.

Part files were created digitally and can be 3D printed anywhere in the world. A quick trip to a local hardware store for some off the shelf items, gives you the SKYPOD.
